THE BAHAMAS: 8-Day Family Mission Trip Adventure-Spring 2018(For All Ages)
THE BAHAMAS8-Day Family Mission Trip Adventure-Spring 2018March 2nd-9th, 2018
Short Term Missions
Short term missions have the potential to powerfully impact the lives of the people who "Go”. That same impact also greatly affects the lives of the local people you're going to minister to, and it's all for His ultimate glory! Short term mission trips gives your local church, community, and extended family an opportunity to support missions through your mission work (in prayer as well as financially) as you "Go, and make disciples of all nations" for Jesus.
It All Begins With Serving
On this trip we'll begin our adventures working alongside our local Ministry Partners, Richard and Andrea Albury and at least six of their seven children. The bulk of our missions time will be spent at Camp Bahamas Mission Base as we help ready the camp for its intended purposes. We’ll also be ministering to Bahamian settlements as well as doing outreach to Haitian refugees on the southern end of the island of Eleuthera.
Please know that this is NOT your average mission trip. Our short-term service and support equips our Ministry Partners to further their work on the mission field year round. On this trip we are serving the Lord by serving our Ministry Partners, doing whatever needs to be done. Our service work tasks will vary on every trip. It could be anything from cleaning and painting, to serving the local marginalized population, or even working directly with the locals in the nearby settlements.
Our Three-Fold Mission
We’ll introduce you first hand to the culture of The Bahamas by spending time with and ministering to the people who live here. Feel free to bring face paints, sports equipment, or craft kids as we share the love of Jesus with these precious island people by hosting day camps at a local park. (Prepare for a crowd!) By the end of the week your family will know many of the local children by name. We’ll also be joining in on a beautiful church service at the local Haitian Church. Be sure to attend our LIVE online classes complete with foreign language instruction (in Creole). You’re sure to enjoy conversing with the locals in a language different than your own.
As families, we’ll help the Camp Bahamas staff make improvements in preparation for the wildly popular summer camps and year-round retreats they hold for the Bahamian youth all over The Bahamas. Our service time will include clean-up, construction, landscaping, painting, etc. No special skills are required but if you have special skills (like mechanical, plumbing, electrical) please be sure to let us know. Everyone, no matter the age, will be a valuable blessing while serving on this Mission Trip Adventure.
The Bahamas are famous for their beautiful water and one of our favorite things is to spend time exploring God’s creation under the sea. Marine science and exploring different ecosystems will be a BIG part of our trip together. Mrs. Henriksen, Trip Leader and marine science teacher, will take travelers on guided afternoon island Adventures together in glass-bottomed kayaks, as we observe the underwater world first-hand. We’ll also have the awesome opportunity to participate in hands-on marine workshops in BOTH the Caribbean Sea as well as the Atlantic Ocean. We’ll spend time snorkeling beautiful reefs teeming with activity as we learn all about the local marine life. You’ll enjoy some well earned downtime to explore the amazing beaches that The Bahamas are famous for. Camp Bahamas is located on 23 acres stretching from one end of the narrow island of Eleuthera to the other. Families will have time to explore both. Snorkeling, kayaking and paddleboarding will also be available during your free time.
What You’ll Experience
This Adventure begins long before departure day. Once registered, you'll begin to receive information on attending the pre-trip online classes LIVE with your Trip Leader. These classes are a great way to get all of those initial questions answered, remove any anxieties about the Trip, and to get to know each other better long before we actually meet in person.
Most travelers will arrive in our selected departure city the night before at the selected group hotel. As a courtesy, our Trip Leaders always arrive in the departure city the day BEFORE our trips and fly out the day AFTER our trip returns. We encourage you to do the same to avoid any flight complications. Travelers will be flying in from all over the country and most don’t know a single person on the Trip. The cool thing is that everyone on the Trip is in the same boat but we'll become great friends in no time at all. (No group registrations are allowed on this particular Trip, but we’re happy to speak with you about scheduling a private Trip for your group. See below for more details.) After the first few introductions, the excitement begins to build! You'll begin to see and feel FIRST HAND the Adventure you're about to embark on.
On departure day, we easily navigate our way to the group meeting spot at the departure airport since so many of us have stayed over the night before. Basic introductions and a housekeeping chat are done before we check-in as a group. In no time at all we’re through security and relaxing together gateside awaiting our international flight. We'll enjoy our very first of many group meals together. We quickly become a "family" as we learn the ins & outs of traveling as a pack. Once we land, that’s when it all becomes surreal!
Mornings will begin with a hearty breakfast followed by group devotional time with the Camp Bahamas staff. We’ll spend the early part of the day working and serving alongside each other at the Mission Base as one big family. We’ll join back up for lunch and complete our work projects. In the late afternoons, we’ll load the buses and head to the nearby settlement to enjoy day camps at the park and ministry time with the locals.
We'll work hard. We'll play hard.
This travel package offers a complete bucket list of serving and exploring… all in one Adventure-filled Mission Trip.
Registration For This Travel Package Closes Upon Departure (as long as flights are still available)...

"Our family joined Jen on the Family Mission Trip to The Bahamas in October 2016. Words can’t begin to tell you how great this trip was. Jen handled most of our questions during pre-trip classes and outlined the trip highlights. Her extensive travel experience and knowledge was displayed as she controlled a group of near 50 as we smoothly traversed 3 airports. Camp Bahamas is a beautiful place and they were prepared to receive us. Our daily assignments were communicated each morning and included camp work tasks, mission opportunities to nearby settlements and free/fun times as well. There was a perfect mix of tasks and all ages and abilities were used. We quickly became friends with families from across the U.S. as we served God side by side. Meals were “normal” American food with just enough Bahamian flair to give you a local flavor. Jen used her marine biology knowledge to teach the kids about the local wildlife found in both the Caribbean and the Atlantic. We had a fantastic trip and I would highly recommend this trip for families that are taking their first Mission Trip or that are experienced at missions."
"This experience, OMG!! This trip goes down as one of the best trips I’ve ever been on. Not only did we get to visit a beautiful island, but to help make such an impact as on the children of the camp, and the school children. Jen did A-mazing as our Trip Leader!!! This was our first Family Mission Trip. I attended to see if I would feel comfortable sending my daughter without parental supervision. Jen, our trip leader, was kind, knowledgeable, capable, attentive, discerning, direct, fun, and adventurous. For me to say that I trust someone with my only child is a BIG statement. I trust Mrs. Jen!"
